Two Blue Skies

Hi Reader

I took these two photos over the last couple of weeks.

Both blue skies. Both beautiful. Both in January. They look almost the same at first glance.

But one was Manchester at 5 degrees. And the other was Barbados at 29.

Same surface. Very different experience underneath.

And that’s been on my mind lately. Because this is exactly what happens when something big is going on inside us. From the outside, life can look fine. We’re functioning. Turning up. Doing what needs doing.

But underneath? Exhaustion. Grief. Restlessness. A quiet “I can’t keep doing this” we don’t quite know what to do with.

I see it all the time. And I know it from the inside too. Often it takes something to break the rhythm. A health scare. A loss. Burnout. A moment where your body or your emotions say, enough. Or sometimes it’s less dramatic than that ...just a deep inner knowing that there has to be more to life than this version you’re living.

That’s when the surface story cracks. And you realise you’ve been surviving on autopilot, saying “I’m fine,” because it’s easier than stopping and listening to what’s actually true.

Those moments matter.

They’re thresholds.

That’s why I’ve created something new. A 12-day email course called Permission to Be Real. It’s for when pretending stops working. When you’re exhausted, shaken, or quietly awake to the fact that something needs to change, even if you don’t know what yet.

It’s coming next week, and I’ll share more then.

But for now, let me ask you this.

"What’s been happening underneath your surface lately?"

Not the version you show the world ...the 'real you.'

If you slowed down enough to listen, what might you hear?

Take care for now

Hi Reader I'm sitting in it right now. My morning chair. The one that catches the sun first. I have my coffee, my comfort blanket (not because I'm cold, just because it feels right) and I'm looking out the back windows at the birds doing their thing. It's bright today. Really bright. Even though I can see the frost still on the ground. The windows need cleaning. I notice that. And then I let it go. It's not a dreamy house or a dreamy world I live in. It's just mine. And this quiet bit at the...

Hi Reader She sat on the call and said: "I know I need to make a decision. I just don't know why I can't." We were 10 minutes in. She'd been circling the same decision for months. Talked it through with friends. Journalled. Made pros and cons lists. Still stuck. I asked: "What happens if you don't decide?" She paused. Then quietly said, "Nothing changes. I stay exactly where I am." "And how does that feel?" Another pause. Longer this time. "Safe." There it was. Realisation she was stuck...

Hi Reader It's that time of year when everyone's counting down to the Christmas break. My clients have been saying it too: "I can't wait to press pause." But here's where I get curious (as always). When I challenged them about what pressing pause truly means for them ...that's when it all came out. Yes, some are pressing pause to recharge. To spend time with loved ones. To rest before stepping back into work they actually enjoy. But for others, when we dug deeper, the real reason surfaced....
